Thömen Spedition GmbH & Co. KG, a specialist in crane and heavy transport logistics, was acquired by Hüffermann Krandienst GmbH. With this acquisition, as well as the takeover of Eisele AG in 2021, the Hüffermann Group is positioning itself as one of the leading providers of crane- & Heavy Lift as well as heavy transport services in Germany.
Founded in 1927, Thömen offers a recognized professional and stable basis with its range of services, on which customers throughout Germany can rely. With over 130 employees in Hamburg, Brunsbüttel, Potsdam and Leipzig, Thömen group has a diverse portfolio of services: the provision of telescopic-, lattice boom and crawler cranes, planning and execution of heavy transports with special equipment trucks up to the competent execution of assemblies. Addditionally, entire projects can be managed as a one-stop-shop operation.
As a company with almost 100 years of tradition and more than 50 years of experience as a crane service provider, the HÜFFERMANN GROUP offers a modern fleet and a complete offering for services, related to crane and heavy load logistics. In total, the group includes more than 1,100 cranes, trucks, machines and rental equipment. In addition to that projects and large construction sites are being managed all over Germany and Europe wide. Managing partner Daniel Janssen explains: “This acquisition is enabling us to expand our range of services in Northern and Eastern Germany and further enhance our expertise, particularly in the wind power and process industries. Together with the long-standing management as a reliable partner, we are looking forward to being able to serve our customers even better in the future.”
“Thanks to IMAP’s industry knowledge and competent advice, we were able to find an ideal solution for the planned further development of the Thömen group both regionally and in terms of an even broader range of products and services with the sale to the Hüffermann Group, which is also managed by an entrepreneur,” says Stephanie Thömen-Steinfeld, who runs the company together with her cousin Lars Thömen in the fourth generation. He adds: “It was particularly important to us that the corporate cultures of both groups fit together well in the interests of our employees and customers.
The IMAP team consisting of Torsten Denker (Partner), Hans-Hasso Kersten (Industrial Advisor Leasing and Logistics) as well as Patrick Fritscher and Mathias Bosse exclusively advised the shareholders of the Thömen group within a structured M&A process through all phases until the successful closing. Following the sale of Horst Pöppel Logistik & Transport GmbH & Co. KG to AUCTUS Capital Partners, this is already the second successful transaction in the logistics sector for IMAP Germany in 2022.
